Extra Mural Project

Operating daily between 3 PM and 6 PM, the project offered activities such as soccer, judo, netball, basketball, swimming, marimba playing, drumming, and chess. These sessions provided a safe haven for children, keeping them away from street-related risks while building resilience and self-confidence through teamwork and creative expression. 225 children aged 5 to 14, primarily from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe were reached by the project. During the project cycle, the host institution, Dominican Convent School, announced its closure. This led Three2Six to successfully relocate back to Sacred Heart College for the following school year (2025). The project demonstrated high adaptability by reallocating R38,200 of its budget from equipment to human resources, ensuring that critical activities like swimming lessons could continue despite relocation challenges. Notable successes included the children’s participation in an inter-Catholic schools athletics event and a dramatisation of the “Circle of Life” production.
